In Kenya, election of leaders is always done after every five years. Elected leaders are given mandate by the electorates to represent them by making their voices heard in the national and county resource sharing tables.
Electorates are always clear on what they want it done. It's in that contexts that we applaud leaders who write the interests of their electorates in their hearts and mind and knock every ministry, department and well-wishers to avail the resources to electorates.
Legendary projects promised to the residents of Kabogor without being done include;
1. Tabach Bridge at River Perkera- This bridge links Emining -Kabogor -Cheberen road. This bridge was promised by political leaders since 1970s. All former Mps of defuct Baringo south Constituency and now Mogotio Constituency knows to date that they promise residents that they will source funds to build the bridge, it's now half a century and yet to happen.
Lives have been lost through throwning and during live threatening emergencies when residents want to access medical services. When river perkera is flooded, river esanda or emining is flooded then accessing either emining health centre, cheberen health centre or eldama ravine county referal hospital is impossible.
Residents desperately need this bridge, it will change their lives and way of doing their day to day activities by easily connecting them to the wider Kenya.
2. All Weather Road. Emining -Kabogor-Cheberen road vis a vis Kapmaritim - Kabogor road is impassable during rainy seasons making next to impossible to access important services outside Kabogor during such seasons. Having a all Weather raod will go along way in easing time taken to safe a life or transportation of people, goods and services to the nearby towns.
3. Secondary School/JSS. Because of the terrain and the unique challenges of this area, a self contained kind of services and projects is paramount to enable residents access services within their reach. Having secondary school adjacent to the existing primary school will reduce school drop outs who opt to discontinue their studies in the nearby dayschools in emining, koitebes, cheberen and kimose because of distance and the impassable river emining, esanda and perkekera during rainy seasons.
4.Electricity - The government launched last mine connectivity way back in 2013 but its unfortunate that it has not been enjoyed by the residents of Kabogor. All neighboring centres ie Kamalanget, koitebes, Aram,Ngendui and kipchobet are connected to electricity but Kabogor is in deep darkness. Kabogor dispensary, Kabogor Primary, Kabogor centre and residents need this project for their day to day activities.
5. Upgrading of Kabogor Dispensary - The greatest thing which ever happened to the residents of Kabogor is availability of a dispensary courtesy of Mogotio Constituency in the year 2007-2013 and equipped, expanded and working personel by Baringo County from the years 2013 to date. Upgrading the dispensary to have maternity wing will be a big move in easing emergencies and night travels to emining health centre or eldama ravine.
6. Soil Conservation - Over time residents have been joining hands to do soil conservation but currently soil erosion has proved futile. Large Gulley erosion is threatening to bring down Kabogor Primary school, Kabogor centre, road to perkera river which is used by residents and their livestock to the river. A number of families are on the verge of being evicted by the this big Gulley erosions which is speedingly encroaching their farms and residents.
To give credit where it's due, green lights are on Tabach Bridge courtesy of Hon.Reuben Kiborek, mp Mogotio.
